DECLARATION OF VISION AND PRINCIPLES

A Critical Time

We live at a critical moment in human history.  The challenges of climate change, food, water and energy shortages as well as the increasing disparity between the developed and developing nations are testing our will to unite, while differences in religions, cultures, and politics continue to keep us apart.  The creation of a “global village” through satellite TV and the Internet is still struggling to connect the world into one community.   At this critical moment, our greatest need is for a global vision of planetary unity and purpose for humanity as a whole.

OUR TEAM

In May 2008, 22 leaders in the areas of space, cognitive science, space art and visualization science, and technology convened at the National Space Society’s annual ISDC conference and announced their intention to form The Overview Institute. These experts, now known as The Overview Group, research and educate both the space community and the general public on the nature and psychosocial impact of the space experience.

Projects pursued by The Overview Institute are made possible by Overview Group members and volunteer contributors.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We welcome your participation in our work. There are several ways to become involved.
